Hi again. Had a very tough but enjoyable two days. There is something very satisfying about stringing a couple of days of perfect eating and training together. I am starting my two days rest tomorrow but already can’t wait to get cracking again on Monday and try to string five days of perfect training and nutrition together.
When I actually sat back and looked at the nutrition and training plan I had set for Thursday I said to myself, ‘How the hell am I going to be able to stick to this routine?’ It really felt like I spent all day Thursday either in the kitchen preparing and eating food and the rest of the day training. I had to come up with a plan! Fridays (todays) routine was almost identical to Thursdays so Thursday night I decided to cook and prepare all Fridays food and also measured out all the supplements I needed into shakers ready to just add water. Man was it worth it!! Much more manageable to have everything prepared the night before. Not only does it leave more time just to do normal things but it also reduces the chances of missing a meal and leaving yourself open to hunger pangs where you could end up giving into cravings and eating crap!
Thursdays training went extremely well. However I had to swap the 30k cycle for a 6mile run simply because I didn’t have enough time as I was preparing grub all day! Apart from that I stuck rigidly to the plan outlined in my last post. Very happy with that!!
Today (Friday) I was working until 1 o clock so I brought all the food I needed with me to work. I didn’t have any conditioning or weight training today. I have just got back from the 30km cycle that I missed yesterday and I am totally wasted!! I felt fairly good with about 5km to go so I decided to really push it and completely empty the tank. Legs are like jelly now and even standing up takes huge effort. Oh well, at least I have a two day break from training to let my legs get some well needed rest and recovery.
I will be sticking to my nutrition plan this weekend and I can’t wait to get my cheat meal in on Monday (Glorious Pizza!!). Again the food for Saturday and Sunday will be identical to the last two days. From next week on I will be changing the types of food I will eat simply to stop myself from getting bored of the same foods all the time. I will probably swap chiken for salmon and egg whites for tuna or something like that but will have to chat with Riaan for advice. Starting to really get sick of chicken breasts and egg whites!! I am starting to get used to the green tea though (slowly but surely) but it is definitely an aquired taste. Getting four litres of water down is not as tough as I thought it would be. I just keep filling a one litre ballygowan squeezy bottle with bottled water from the fridge and just keep it with me and sip away on it all day. The resulting trips to the toilet is getting redicilous though!! lol
Well thats about it for this post and I will talk to you again soon.
All the best,
Dave.

Hey Dave keep up the Good work man,
Im kinda in the same boat at the minute, keepin away from the crap food is a constant battle,a battle i,m loosing at the moment lol.Im thinking of going the supplement route i only ever used protien, what other supplements are you on and how do you find them?
Cheers,
Kieran
hi kieran,
Thank you very much for your comment/question. Keeping away from ‘crap food’ really is the key!! There is no doubt that picking up the phone and ordering a chinese or pizza for home delivery is much easier than physically cooking a clean healthy meal for yourself. Its just a matter of breaking the old bad habits, plain and simple. If you are having a hard time doing that, I believe that no matter how hard you train, your results are going to be seriously comprimised. If you don’t get the results that you are looking for you won’t stick to your training for too long!
Here is where the supplements come in. When it is not convenient to cook or eat a proper meal you can simply substitute that meal with a protein shake. The main thing is not to let yourself get hungry. When you do let yourself get hungry, this is when it gets really easy to binge on unhealthy food.
The supplements that I am using are:
Nutrition-X Pro Matrix (Fast, Medium and slow acting protein combination so you get a constant supply of protein to the muscles).
Nutrition-X XplodeII (Pre training)
Nutrition-X Cell-X (Creatine and Glutamine Post training)
Adams Multi-Vitamin
I can’t recommend these supplements highly enough!! I am training hard twice a day but the amount of energy that I have in the evening is amazing. Also, I am lifting heavier weight than I ever though I could in such a short period of time. Muscle gain and Fat loss are both progressing much faster than I would have ever though possible (much faster than anything I have experienced in the past). I put this down completely to good supplementation and proper nutrition. No debate!! I would say to you to definitely give the supplements a go. You will be asking yourself why you didn’t try them a long time ago!!
Thanks again for your comment and question and hope this has helped. The very Best of Luck!!
Dave.
