Another week done and dusted! Had a very tough week this week as I trained twice a day, every day. Morning time was weight and conditioning training and evening was Cardio training with running. I would have loved to get more cycling in but unfortunately due to some really horrible weather conditions it made it impossible to get out on the bike. So next week I am going to concentrate and focus a lot more on my cycling. I also plan to do a Duathlon trial run so as to get an idea of what time I should be aiming for, for the main event on June 3rd.

Yesterday I trained legs with weighted barbell Squats and Weighted Dumbell Lunges and man did I give it everything! I did 4sets of each excercise with 15reps each set (Lunges were 15reps for each leg). I can bearly walk today. I could only manage 25mins on the treadmill with an incline of 5 last night as both legs were completely wasted.  I also had a little hiccup with my nutrition yesterday. My wife and I went grocery shopping with with the baby. He woke up screaming for a feed so we went to a cafe to get a coffee and to feed him but because it took a lot longer to get home than I origionally thought I ended up having a small chicken curry with boiled rice. Just goes to show when you are not prepared and a hunger pang strikes, you haven’t got a hope. You will just eat anything you see!! I was kicking myself for the rest of the day so a lesson learned..Always have a protein shake or something planned on standby!!

Today, because my legs were still numb (especially thighs and backside!!)  I could only get 20mins of running done. I did however train shoulders and back and hit them both extremely hard. I made sure to keep my nutrition bang on all day so as to make up for my little slip yesterday. I’m starting to see some good results too which is extremely motivating. Any time I have tried to drop weight in the past, I usually end up losing patience and pack it in before I give myself a chance to actually achieve and notice any good results. Not this time. I’m in it for the long haul!!

I am working 12 hour shifts Saturday (Tomorrow) and Sunday 12am - 12pm so I just spent the last hour cooking and preparing my food for Saturday. Just to give an idea of what I will be consuming for the next two days (Non training days):

10am:       NutritionX CellX Creatine & Glutamine drink

11am:        40g Porridge with 300ml fat free milk & NutritionX Pro Matrix Protein shake (2 scoops)

1:30pm:   40g Porridge with 300ml fat free milk & NutritionX Pro Matrix Protein shake (2 scoops)

4pm:         180g chicken breast with 300g Spinach

6:30pm:   180g chicken breast with 300g Spinach

9pm:          NutritionX CellX Creatine & Glutamine drink

10pm:       240g Tuna fillet with 2 rice cakes

12:30am:  NutritionX Pro Matrix Protein shake (2 scoops) - Before bed.

I will also consume 4ltrs of bottled water and 6 cups of green tea throughout the day. Berocca or Adams multivitamin will be taken a couple of times too.

Again, I am really looking forward to my cheat meal on Monday. I will probably order a huge pizza or two!! lol. For now, I’m off to get some badly needed R&R so I will speak to you again on Wednesday with a further update. Oh! Nearly forgot to mention - Spinach has now replaced that stinking Broccoli!! Hey if it worked for Popeye!!?? We will see how that turns out.

Best of Luck,

Dave.
