Monday June 1st 2009, 26 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, thousands of women (and men) stood ready to take on the mini marathon-for some its their first for others its an annual event. Many very good causes were represented i personally was raising money for St. Francis Hopsice but apart from that this is my first step to a greater goal this is what my hard training with Laura also Brians & Brendans help & support has prepared me for.
Through the sea of people we wormed our way to front of the walkers and at 3pm the horn to start the race blew! We got under the start Line at a time of 8.01. The first 3 kms were very quick with everyone wanting to get a good start under them (Ipersonally think they wanted to get to Donnybrook faster to be hosed down by the firemen!). We averaged about 7-10 mins each km. it was quite tough to get a good jog in as there were so many bodies around but i done what i could- i kept myself hydrated through out the race although i was finished 1litre of water about halfway through i had to stop at the water station at 7kms.
The route took us through Ballsbridge, Belfield, Donnybrook, Leeson Street, and finshed off in St. Stephens Green.
Laura and i agreed a time of 2 hrs tops to complete race as i did this few years ago with no training in 2.5 hours, time actually achieved was……. 1hr 45mins!!!!
i was very proud of myself! four weeks ago when i started this challenge i did not think possible, i achieved my first step in my ultimate goal and did it at a pace that didnt kill me and i had plenty of time left over!
Its at this point i knew with Lauras help i shall be prepared to do the Addidas marathon the end of October!
I would like to thank everyone at www.FitnessSupplementsVitamins.ie for their support and Laura and everyone who read my blog or gave me words of encouragement and to all who were asking about the videos they will be following shortly.
I shall hope to speak to you all soon with my future progress and i hope that you enjoyed reading my story as i have had writing it! And remember with a few small changes you too can start on your own road to leaner, stronger faster person.
NOW begins my life challenge to remain fit, healthy and happy
Farewell for now
Emma
