I have eaten Broccoli every day for almost three weeks now and I can safely say I would happily chew Thumb Tacks before Broccoli ever passes my lips again!! If the devil has a favourite food, its is Broccoli.. What an evil little vegetable.. Question - Why does my brain and body now refuse something that is supposed to be so good for me? Riaan has instructed me to only eat Green Vegetables so I am going to change to Green Beans or Spinach or something. Can you get Green Carrots, no? Did I mention that I HATE Broccoli?? Even its spelling is ridiculous and stupid…
Ok, thats todays moan out of the way and I apologise to all you broccoli lovers (wierdos lol). Just kidding. Back to my training:
MONDAY:
Man did I pig out on Monday. I am using Monday evenings for my ‘Cheat’ meal but I went way overboard this week. the Cheat meal sort of turned into a Cheat Day!! I got up Monday morning and had fry up. Sausages, bacon, eggs, the works. It didn’t stop there and I finished off the remainder of the easter eggs that were still hanging around. That evening I ordered a 12″pizza, garlic pizza bread, chicken combo etc. You name it, I ordered it. It felt great at the time but man did I pay for it on Tueday. I really felt like crap the following day! I didnt feel one bit guilty about it though as I had spent the previous six days eating spotlessly clean and only missed one training session in the whole week so I didn’t beat myself up for pigging out the day before.
TUESDAY:
Tuesday the hard work began again. I decided a little while ago that I would add in my own weight training in conjunction with Rob’s conditioning programme so Tuesday morning I trained Biceps and Abdominals. I set myself a gruelling routine and trained both muscle groups to total failure. Very sore today (Excellent!!). Later Tuesday evening I ran 7miles on the treadmill while using an incline setting of 5 (my treadmill goes upto 15). Shattered is a massive understatement! I’m quiet lucky in the sense that I have my own Gym in the garage at home. Last year I kitted it out completely with almost everything that a commercial gym would have but all I really use is the treadmill and free weights so I guess I can’t use the excuse of not being able to make it to the gym! Both my lower legs are beginning to get very sore from running on the road so I am going to be using the treadmill a bit more as the impact is a lot less on the lower legs. Stuck rigidly to my diet all day again. Exactly the same foods as in my previous post.
WEDNESDAY (Today):
Got up this morning with a lot of muscle soreness (good pain). This afternoon I trained Chest and Triceps to total failure again. I am probably doing the wrong body part on the wrong days so I will have to give Rob a call for advise but for the moment I’m going to soldier on. I had planned on a 20k cycle this evening but exteremly high winds changed my mind for me. Instead, I hit the treadmill again and did another 7miles with an incline setting of 5. To be honest I cheated a little yesterday by cancelling the incline a few times when the going got too tough. Tonight I didn’t cheat at all so I’m delighted with that.
I am starting to see some good results already with dropping some body fat and gaining a little muscle so the level of motivation has gone up a notch for sure! Looking forward to having my body fat % done again when I travel to Dublin to meet Rob for another training session. I am also getting a huge boost from the supplementation that I am taking (see comment on my last post). My energy levels are going through the roof and I am getting results like I have never gotton before. This is the first time I have taken these types of supplements and I am astonished at the difference they are making to my training and the kind of results I am achieveing in such a short period of time. I think that is why I always seeemed to quit prematurely in the past. It also doesn’t hurt to have a nutritionist and personal trainer showing you the correct way to do things!
Will speak to you again soon!
Dave.
