Hi again. Not a huge amount to report today since my last post. The soreness has gone from my injury on Wednesday to my lower leg but I am not getting lulled into a false sense of security!! I haven’t run since the injury and I think its probably best to not run again until the actual event on Wednesday. Instead I have been cycling to try and improve my time. Thursday I went for a 30km cycle and pushed as hard as I could while keeping my nutrition spot on all day. Actually my nutrition has been perfect since last Saturday apart from the slip on Monday!!
Friday I had to work from 6am to 2pm so I was up at 04:15. When I got home from work I really wasn’t in the humour to go to the gym or go running or cycling so instead I decided to take the day off from my conventional training and go Kayaking instead. I Spent about 3 hours on the water as the weather was super. I also brought my fishing rod and caught about a dozen Mackrel so that takes care of my diet needs for a few days!!
I figured that almost all of the hard work has been done for the Duathlon so a day off certainly wouldn’t hurt. Thats is not to say that I am going to decrease the intensity of training after my challenge has finished!! I will definitely be continuing to train just as hard and keep my nutrition just as strict. Anyway, Kayaking is great excercise too!!
I am working all weekend so I won’t be training. All I have left then is Monday and Tuesday before the Duathlon. Both days will be spent just doing very light stretching and maybe a light spin on the bike but thats is. So, the next time you will hear from me I will have completed my Duathlon but I will only just be beginning my challenge!! This is for life not just for 6 weeks.
On that note, I will chat to you again on Wednesday after the race…
