Do you exercise each week but still can’t seem to lose those unwanted pounds? Do you see other people in the changing rooms who have that low fat, trimmed, ripped look and wonder what are they doing that I am not doing? The missing component for you can very likely be found in your diet and nutrition. “You are what you eat” and the key to Fat Burning is eating the right foods.
Nutrition Tips for Fat Burning
• Avoid Foods high in Fat – cheese, mayonnaise, fried food etc…
• Reduce Your intake of foods high in Carbohydrates – your body works by 1st burning carbohydrates, which it uses for energy, then burning fat, which it also uses for energy. If you lower your carbohydrate intake (don’t remove it all together just lower it) your body will burn more fat.
• Replace White Bread with Brown Bread and White Rice with Brown Rice
• Increase High Protein Foods consumption – food high in protein fills you up quicker and for longer, so will reduce your hunger cravings, and also promote lean muscle growth
• Increase Water intake – drinking a couple of litres of water per day (spread out over the day) has been proven to increase the rate that your body burns fat along with being great for your skin
• Always Eat breakfast – eat something healthy like a cereal, and piece of fruit and yoghurt. This will get your body’s digestive system moving after its night of rest and improve your body’s ability to burn fat throughout the day.
Fat Burning Supplements
Fat Burning Supplements do work. To maximise their effectiveness you need to take them in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise. So how do they work…? Fat Burning Supplements use a combination of ingredients proven to burn fat.
The 5 main ingredients used in Fat Burners are (in no particular order):
(1) L-Carnitine:
Increases the rate that Fat is burned in your body and also increases the ratio of fat to muscle loss, thus preserving muscle mass while increasing the rate that fat is burned.

(2) Green Tea:
Green Tea promotes the use of calories as energy in your body and will assist your “fat-fighting” efforts. Green Tea also helps to produce “natural viral killer” immune cells, which scavenge and fight off bacteria and flush out toxins, which means it will help protect your body from the free radicals that damage cells and weaken your immune system.

Training Tips for Fat Burning
• Introduce Core training between sets – core training means training your abs and lower back. Train your abs and lower back when you are resting between sets of other exercises. This will keep your body in the fat burning zone throughout your workout and will also allow you to do more core exercises over the duration of your workout.
• Try Cardio Training at the end of your workout – cardio training is great for burning fat. If you leave your cardio training until the end of your workout, your body will have used up a lot of its carbohydrate stores (from your earlier training). When you do your cardio training you will then burn some serious fat as your body goes to your fat stores for energy.
• Highly Recommended Interval Training has been scientifically proven to burn more fat than regular cardio training and also drastically increase your fitness levels, again when compared to regular cardio exercise. So what is interval training? Interval Training involves constantly changing the intensity that you work throughout your cardio session. By doing so you constantly shock your body into working harder and you burn lots of fat.
Sample Interval Training Workout
**RPE means ‘Rate of Perceived Exertion’. It operates on a scale of 1-10 where 1 = ‘Extremely light, barely strolling pace’, 5 = ‘Moderately Jogging, easy to talk whilst going at this pace, quite comfortable’, 10 = ‘This is as hard as I can physically work, I cant maintain this for long’.
** This can be done in a gym, on a treadmill or any cardio machine, or on a road/track etc…
Warm-up – 5 minutes – RPE = 4/10
Rest Set – 3 minutes – RPE = 5/10
