I completed my Duathlon on Wednesday in a time of 54 mins 24 seconds. My split times were as follows:

First 2.7Km run: 11′ 12″

Cycle 13Km:         27′ 03″

Last 2.7Km run:  16′ 9″

As you can see from the slplit times it was the second run that really hurt my overall time. The transition from cycle to last run is such a difficult thing to do! It is a very strange feeling when your legs are like jelly after pushing hard on the bike trying to run. Your legs just don’t do what your brain is telling them to do!! I was speaking the guy that finished 4th in an unbeliveable time of arond 37.5mins after the race and he said that it is something that does not get any easier even at their level!!

I beat my target of 55 minutes but secretly I was hoping to go as close to 50 minutes as possible. I am not too dissappointed though. 6 weeks ago if you had of told me that I could do it in 55mins I would have said you were mentally unstable.. I was very happy with my first 2.7Km run and my injured leg felt good. When I jumped on the bike my target was an average of 30Km/hour and I achieved that. I passed quiet a few people on the bike that had overtaken me on the run and it felt great!! Unfortunately some of them caught me again on the second 2.7Km run and passed me. The leg did begin to give out a bit towards the end of the second run but no excuses!!

This challenge has never been about winning the race but it was all about beating my targets and achieving my potential. I believe that with the proper nutrition, training and supplementation that I recieved from the guys at FitnessSupplementsVitamins.ie has made this possible. I would like to thank my Personal Trainer Robbie for all the ass kickings, Riaan for the nutritional advice and of course Brian and Brendan at FitnessSupplementsVitamins.ie for giving me this oppertunity, for their time, patience, advice and generosity with the supplements which I believe contributed hugely and really helped me over the finish line!!

At the beginning of my challenge I wanted to lose as much body fat as possible in the 6 weeks and I am delighted to say that I am 12lbs lighter today!! I’m sure I have probably added a little muscle too. But most importantly I feel super and have buckets of energy. The likes of which I have not seen since I was about 17!! :-)  The best part is that anybody can achieve this!! You just have to want to do it - Thats it!!

I now have my sights firmly set on training for the Iron Man Triathlon which takes place on the 22nd of August back home. Like I have said before, this is a change for life and I am certainly not going to waste the improvements I have made in the last 6 weeks. I can only go from strength to strength from here on.

I really hope you have enjoyed reading my posts as much as I have enjoyed writing them!! Thanks again to the guys and also to you for reading. You’d never know I may check back with you all again when I’m the World Triathlon Champion but until then, thanks a million and take care!!!!!
