Down 8 Pounds since April 20th

Hey Guys. Just got off the weighing scales and was hugely suprised to see that I have lost 8lbs!! I’m down to 182.1lbs from 190lbs in only 24 days. Since the beginning of my challenge (April 20th) I have only weighed myself twice or three times as a weighing scales do not actually give an accurate account of things. As I am training with weights to build muscle along with trying to lose body fat, my fat weight is coming down but my muscle weight is going up. So from this I can summise that I have actually lost a little more than 8lbs of fat due to the small increase in muscle weight. The Body Fat Percentage test is the real test which I am looking forward to getting done again!! Nothing like results for motivation!!

In my last post (Last Friday) I detailed my nutrition plan for Saturday and Sunday and I stuck to it perfectly although I must admit I was becoming a bit fed up with the whole diet thing. Monday’s cheat meal couldn’t come quick enough!! I ate cleanly Monday morning and afternoon and decided to make ‘Burger King’ my best pal later in the day. I made it a point not to leave until I was stuffed to my eyeballs. A Supersize XL Double Whopper meal swiftly followed by a Supersize Double Angus burger meal followed by a Strange look from the girl that served me, just about did the trick!!

I did enjoy it at the time and was on a massive Sugar and Carb buzz for a while but man did I come back to earth with a bang! Felt so bad that night and next morning it actually felt like I had a hangover. I felt dehydrated and lathargic even though I drank 4ltrs of water! Very strange feeling. I think it may be a case of feeling so bad for so long before I started this challenge that it was actually a  normal thing for me to feel like that all the time, without realising how bad I was actually feeling? (Hope that makes sense? You get the idea.. lol)

My training has been going great and I am enjoying the process immensely. On Monday I completed Rob’s conditioning programme but felt too bad after the burgers to do anything else. I will make up for this by not taking a scheduled day off from training on Thursday.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I singled out and trained just Biceps and Abs in the morning and later that evening I got out on my bike. The weather was super so I did 40km on the bike. I did the first 30km at a challenging pace and pushed extremely hard for the last 10km just to burn out the thighs. Im really looking forward to the cycling portion of the Duathlon because I think this is the area that I can improve on my time the most.

This morning (Wednesday)  I trained Chest and triceps and really went to town on myself. I expect I will be in agony by tomorrow or Friday. (Can’t wait!! I live for muscle soreness after working hard..Seriously!!!) :0). This evening I did a 6mile road run at a moderate pace and all felt good. I had a bit of soreness in the Tibia of both legs a couple of weeks ago but all seems to be good now, thank God!! I will just have to keep road running to a minimum to avoid a repeat of that so the Treadmill will be getting a hammering instead for the rest of the week.

I just had a look at the Dublin Duathlon website for the first time tonight. www.dublintri.com/duathlon is the website. It is very well put together and there is a lot of information on there including a ton of pictures of past events, finishing times and even videos of the route that will be taken. These guys look serious and I must admit, a little intimidating. I really don’t want to finish last and hold up the prize giving ceremony!!!!!
