Looking forward to Duathlon

Hi again. Not a huge amount to report today since my last post. The soreness has gone from my injury on Wednesday to my lower leg but I am not getting lulled into a false sense of security!! I haven’t run since the injury and I think its probably best to not run again until the actual event on Wednesday. Instead I have been cycling to try and improve my time. Thursday I went for a 30km cycle and pushed as hard as I could while keeping my nutrition spot on all day. Actually my nutrition has been perfect since last Saturday apart from the slip on Monday!! 59′ 02″ - Trial Run
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 27th, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
Completed a trial run for the duathlon over the correct distances today (2.7km run, 13km cycle, 2.7km run) and it went fairly well. I completed it in a time of 59 mins 2 seconds. At first I was disgusted at how bad the time was but when I sat down and worked it out, it wasn’t all that bad. I encountered a few obstacles that hopefully will not effect the actual race next Wednesday. For example: (read more...)
Just over a week to go
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 23rd, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
Hi Guys. Training has been going very well and I am sticking to my nutrition plan. I did however move my cheat meal day to Friday instead of Monday just to keep in line with last week. This will also give me a straight run from this Saturday to next Friday with perfect nutrition and training. This will be my last full weeks training prior to the Duathlon so I need to make every day count!! (read more...)
Back on Track

Howdy. I am delighted to say I am completely back to normal this week. Tiredness is gone and I’m back training hard. I put my lack of energy completely down to lack of sleep and I just hit a wall. I was in Dublin on Tuesday as I had a consultation with the Personal Trainer Rob, and it has given me a huge lift!! He said that I had come a long way since our first meeting and that I should have no problems in completing the Duathlon in a half decent time..We did a light training session in Phoenix Park - a 5 mile run in about 40min which was 8 minute miles. I was suprised at the ease in which we did it considering I was able to chat and hold a conversation without being too out of breath. 6 weeks ago, that would have been impossible for me so I am making noticeable progress after all. Totally Shattered
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 17th, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
Hi again guys. From the title I’m sure you can work out what I’m going to say! I have had a extremely difficult two days and my body is crying out at the moment. Thursday night I only got one hour sleep as the baby was awake all night and I had to be up for work at 04:30 this morning. Wednesday night was something very similar. I have never trained with so much intensity or volume ever and my body doesn’t know what has hit it as I have been training twice a day 4 - 5 days every week. I have been fuelling myself as best as I can with all the proper nutrition and supplementation but I still seem to have hit a wall. I reckon its the combination of lack of sleep, looking after a new baby, working and training twice a day. (read more...)
Down 8 Pounds since April 20th
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 13th, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
Hey Guys. Just got off the weighing scales and was hugely suprised to see that I have lost 8lbs!! I’m down to 182.1lbs from 190lbs in only 24 days. Since the beginning of my challenge (April 20th) I have only weighed myself twice or three times as a weighing scales do not actually give an accurate account of things. As I am training with weights to build muscle along with trying to lose body fat, my fat weight is coming down but my muscle weight is going up. So from this I can summise that I have actually lost a little more than 8lbs of fat due to the small increase in muscle weight. The Body Fat Percentage test is the real test which I am looking forward to getting done again!! Nothing like results for motivation!! (read more...)
Sore but still going Strong!
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 8th, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
Another week done and dusted! Had a very tough week this week as I trained twice a day, every day. Morning time was weight and conditioning training and evening was Cardio training with running. I would have loved to get more cycling in but unfortunately due to some really horrible weather conditions it made it impossible to get out on the bike. So next week I am going to concentrate and focus a lot more on my cycling. I also plan to do a Duathlon trial run so as to get an idea of what time I should be aiming for, for the main event on June 3rd. (read more...)
Not Broccoli Again!!!???
Posted in David SheridanWritten on May 6th, 2009 by David Sheridan | No Comments »
I have eaten Broccoli every day for almost three weeks now and I can safely say I would happily chew Thumb Tacks before Broccoli ever passes my lips again!! If the devil has a favourite food, its is Broccoli.. What an evil little vegetable.. Question - Why does my brain and body now refuse something that is supposed to be so good for me? Riaan has instructed me to only eat Green Vegetables so I am going to change to Green Beans or Spinach or something. Can you get Green Carrots, no? Did I mention that I HATE Broccoli?? Even its spelling is ridiculous and stupid… (read more...)

| Personal Information: I'm 29 years old from Waterford. I am married and recently had a new addition to the family. My wife gave birth to little baby boy last week (April 2009). I work for a large Multinational Pharmaceutical Company as a shift supervisor and have been employed there for the past five years. My hobbies include Fishing, Reading and most recently getting fit and working out. |
||
| Current Health/Lifestyle/Diet: Currently I would describe my fitness level as very poor. When I was younger I played Hurling, Soccer and Gaelic Football. I trained five days a week and played matches on the weekends which basically allowed me to eat all around me. As I got older, the training slowly became less and less. Unfortunately the eating did not. My diet at the moment is not very good and my biggest weakness is pizza! My energy levels are poor and stress levels are high. Hopefully through this programme, all this is going to change. |

| What I want to Achieve from my Fitness Supplements Vitamins 'Better Body Challenge': • Lose as much Body Fat as possible • Gain as much Lean Muscle as possible • Complete a Duathlon ( And finish better than last!!) • Improve overall Fitness Level - Look and Feel better. |
