A few weeks ago Brian and I met up with Florian Chercheva, a bodybuilder preparing for the NABBA Ireland bodybuilding competition which is scheduled for September in Dublin City Centre. We met with Flo to try to gain an insight into the preparation, the dedication, nutrition and bodybuilding supplements involved in bodybuilding, and to share that knowledge with you, our customers.

“Florian Gained an Incredible 20 kg in Just One Year”
Florian is originally from Romania. He has been bodybuilding for seven years now. Florian tells us when he began bodybuilding he weighed just 53 kg. Within just one year with hard training, good nutrition and bodybuilding supplements he gained an incredible 20kg. Six years on from that Florian is just ten weeks out from his first bodybuilding competition. He is currently weighing in at 95 kg and once he packs on another 2 -3 kgs he will change his training and diet and go into ‘pre-contest mode’.
“Total Dedication – Training 5 days per week”
Florain tells us he trains 5 times a week to using heavy weights and lower reps to bulk up as much as possible before the pre-contest diet starts. About ten weeks out a bodybuilder will go into ‘pre-contest mode’ which involves decreasing their carbohydrate intake, and sometimes increasing the reps that they do, to strip away any body fat they have whilst maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. Florian plans to be 85kg ‘ripped’ on the day of the competition in September.
“Bodybuilding Food Plan”
Florians bodybuilding diet consists of 4 – 5 solid meals per day & three protein shakes. Florians bodybuilding supplements consist of a multivitamin, Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass (mass gainer), Muscletech naNo Vapor (creatine and nitric oxide which delivers better pumps). He uses Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard when in ‘pre-contest mode’.
It was great to meet Florian, his dedication and focus is very motivating. Bodybuilding requires regular training, proper nutrition, bodybuilding supplements and rest. When you put all these components together and you too could gain 20 kg in just one year.
We wish Florian the best of luck in the competition and will keep you updated on how his preparation is going.

Thank you for the information. I believe that the program, the diet plan and the supplements to be taken go together. There are programs that work for an individual but not for the other as well.
Absolutely Elmar. One component without the other will greatly limit your progress towards your goals. You can regularly train really hard but if your nutrition is lacking your body will not develop the way you want it to. The exact same principle applies if your nutritional plan is good but your are not training regularly, are not training at all, or are not training properly.
