Howdy. I am delighted to say I am completely back to normal this week. Tiredness is gone and I’m back training hard. I put my lack of energy completely down to lack of sleep and I just hit a wall. I was in Dublin on Tuesday as I had a consultation with the Personal Trainer Rob, and it has given me a huge lift!! He said that I had come a long way since our first meeting and that I should have no problems in completing the Duathlon in a half decent time..We did a light training session in Phoenix Park - a 5 mile run in about 40min which was 8 minute miles. I was suprised at the ease in which we did it considering I was able to chat and hold a conversation without being too out of breath. 6 weeks ago, that would have been impossible for me so I am making noticeable progress after all.

Monday I had a poor day as far as nutrition was concerned. I was still very fatigued and Will Power was not a very good friend of mine. I didn’t eat terribly bad but I didn’t eat as much of the good stuff as I am supposed to. That being said, Tuesdays nutrition was good and I am feeling much stronger for it today as a result.

Today it was back to the strict diet and the gym, hitting the weights this morning. I worked abs and biceps pretty hard and felt good. Got a Protein Shake, a couple of chicken fillets and a mound of spinach in and I was on the bike for a 20k sprint. I am getting closer to my target of 2mins per km but I still need to put in a lot of work. I did the 20km in 45mins in a strong head wind so from that I can deduce, on a calm day it would have been closer to the 42ish minute mark. Cycling into a head wind is the hardest cycling you will ever do!! I am going to try do a trial Duathlon tomorrow over the same distances as the actual race and see how I fair out. I don’t think the weather is going to be in my favour for a good time but we will see how it goes.

Today is my wedding anniversary so I am going to keep my post short. Heading out for a meal now and looking forward to a nice big juicy Fillet Steak. I will have to be a little careful of the desert menu though as it is a huge weakness of mine. Will just have to munch a ton of veggies and hope I am too full! I’ll report back on Friday and let you know how I got on.. Take care..
